Vintage Frames meets Polaroid Fun
Before my daughter headed off to college, she wanted to make something that would add a little personality to her dorm room, mixed with a little bit of home and friends.
College? How did we get here? One day I’m brushing her hair, the next I’m sending her off to college! You plan for this their whole life, but it still catches you by surprise. There are few things that can be categorized as bittersweet in our lives, and this is most certainly one of them.
The sweet moments of planning, shopping and gathering supplies needed to spruce up the new dorm room as it all starts piling up in her bedroom–the kitchen items, the matching bedding with the roommate, the pictures, the lamps, the new laundry basket. And then the bitter hits, she’s leaving soon!
But the sweet moments return as I see her smiling and laughing as she’s setting up her room and settling into her new life at college. Then I realize the painful moments are all worth it and life can go on seeing her happy and thriving in her new life.
Below are the instructions and materials needed to create this vintage room decor project.
Materials needed:
- Polaroid pictures
- Vintage style fabric
- Gold frames
- Buttons
- Ribbon
- Embellishments – jewels, pearls, flowers
- Letter beads

Step 2 – Cut cardstock to the size of the inserts of your frames. Then, cut your material large enough to fold over the inserts.

Step 3 – Glue fabric to cardstock inserts.

Step 4 – Create your designs for each frame, adding your polaroid pictures, ribbon, buttons, letter beads and any other embellishments you like!

Step 5 – Put in frames! All done! And ready to add beauty to your dorm!

Step 6 – Hang in your dorm!

And now she’s off and ready to conquer the world with a little bit of home and friends to remember who is cheering her on!
Happy Crafting! I hope this easy and simple craft will add a little joy to your life and dorm!
